The Bulletproof Vests

Formed by brothers Jake and Toby Vest, The Bulletproof Vests were a band all about letting loose. Their goal was to approach music with reckless abandon while simultaneously honing their skills through the exploration of Memphis’s rich musical history. Bandmates Dirk Kitterlin, Greg Faison, and Brandon Robertson brought a wealth of talent to the group, each contributing to the sound of the band in their own unique ways. The Bulletproof Vests were probably best known for playing over 1,000 wild (occasionally drunken) shows throughout the American South in the few years they were together. Like a heap of space junk hurtling through the atmosphere, they burned bright but eventually crashed into the ground with a deafening thud. The band members scattered throughout the midtown Memphis music scene and joined new bands, and have remained dear friends to this day. The long-lost tapes for their 2nd album, End of an Error, were recently discovered and released by American Grapefruit. It serves as a prefect example of BPV burning at their brightest.
